Online learning is basically education by internet. This type of learning is a combination of skills and knowledge that the student must use with the computer. Using different types of applications where the learner must construct and develop meaning, on line learning can be guided or self paced. When we refer to distance learning we are talking about not being inside a classroom, we can access and obtain information via internet, no matter where we are.

In order to be successful on an online learning course, student must have certain skills such as surfing the web to get information, knowing your way around a computer, have good reading comprehension skills as well as writing skills. Values are also an important part like honesty, discipline and responsibility, just to name a few. And let’s not forget about attitude which is one of the most important things in order to achieve your goal. You must be very determined and able to keep going forward despite setbacks that may occur during your learning process.

These courses have resources you can use to help you along the way. You may have a guide that can clarify your doubts. In some courses you might have e -mates who you can ask via email or on the platform of your course.  You can find these resources on your platform; I have found Google to be a very good resource when it comes to looking for information, as is Wikipedia.

There are lots of benefits to online learning. You are able to study in your own time frame without having to stop your daily life. This is a great way to keep educating yourself if you work or have a family. No matter where you are you can always access to your course as long as you have internet. Just like there are benefits there are also some drawbacks. You must have good study skills, if you don’t this is probably won’t be the best way to get your education. Without internet you cannot participate on the course. If you have doubts you must find your answers yourself. I believe that online learning has more benefits than drawbacks. But everyone has a different opinion.
